# How merchant of record works (/v2/merchant-of-record) Pandabase v2 is still in development, and we're still writing these docs. Some content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inconsistent between pages. With Merchant of record, Pandabase is the legal seller on orders processed in this mode. We handle the payment, sales tax, billing support, and disputes. You provide the product and help customers use it. ## What Pandabase handles [#what-pandabase-handles] | Area | Our role | | ------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Payments | Process payments through our checkout and payment partners. | | Tax | Calculate, collect, file, and pay sales tax, VAT, and GST on these sales. | | Disputes | Screen for fraud and respond to chargebacks with evidence. | | Buyer support | Help buyers with billing questions. | | Payouts | Pay out your earnings after applicable fees and adjustments. | ## What you handle [#what-you-handle] You set your prices, describe your products, and deliver what the buyer ordered. You also handle product support, including account access, setup, and bugs. Keep records of delivery and customer activity. If a buyer disputes an order, we may need those records to prepare a response. ## From payment to payout [#from-payment-to-payout] 1. A buyer pays through checkout. 2. Pandabase processes the payment and handles applicable sales tax. 3. You deliver the product or give the buyer access. 4. Your earnings are paid out after fees and any adjustments.
